Chartered Financial Planners

Chartered Financial Planner status – why so important?

Chartered status brings with it several serious obligations. Chartered titles, not awarded lightly, are jealously guarded by professional bodies. A chartered title is not simply recognition for staff having passed examinations: when extended to firms, it carries additional significance.

The chartered title is a public declaration that the advice given by a firm:

  • is of the highest quality.
  • is based solely on the researched needs of each client.
  • is provided by someone not exceeding his/her level of competency.

It also signifies that a firm’s employees, where they are members of the CII, are governed by a code of ethics and conduct and that disciplinary sanctions are applied to those who transgress.

A chartered title is a commitment, therefore, to an overall standard of excellence and professionalism.
