Alex is a co-director in Calculis Financial Planners limited. He has worked in financial services since graduating in 1997 with an honours degree in demography. His academic background is particularly relevant when considering population trends and their impact on not just life expectancy, but also economic development and investment strategy.
Chartered financial planner
Alex was one of the first thousand professionals to become a chartered financial planner and is the former Chairman of the regional Personal Finance Society, the professional body for the UK financial planning profession.
He is qualified to deal with all aspects of financial advice but especially likes getting his teeth into more complex cases such as inheritance tax planning and specialist pensions such as SIPPs and SSASs. Alex holds specialist FSA permissions in pension transfers.
Outside of work, his interests centre on his family. He also finds time to pursue his love for winter sports, travelling with his children, reading contemporary and classic fiction, as well as indulging in his passion for classic cars. To celebrate his 39th birthday, Alex treated himself to a Jensen Interceptor, a car he has wanted since he was a child.
